Wi-fi Alliance enhances security measures for 2018
The Wi-Fi Alliance, the global network of organizations working together to bring the world Wi-Fi, announced enhancements to their security measures yesterday that will be available later this year.
Building on their widespread adoption and success of WPA2, Wi-Fi Certified WPA3 will offer new features to simplify and enhance security for users and service providers on personal and enterprise networks. WPA2 is the security standard that protects billions of Wi-Fi networks every day.

Three-Quarters of orgs experienced phishing in 2017
Phishing attacks continue to wage war against organizations, with 76% of organizations reportedly experiencing phishing attacks in 2017.
The State of the Phish research report found that almost half of information security professionals surveyed claim the rate of phishing attacks increased from 2016, leaving many concerned with what the state of 2018 will look like.

2017 Named Worst year for cyber threats targeting UK
According to new research from UK business ISP, Beaming, UK firms were hit by over 230,000 cyber-attacks each in 2017.
Attacks on thousands of its customers were analyzed in real time and recorded on average 633 attempted attacks every day in order to infiltrate their corporate networks. This daily attack rate amounts to 231,028 attempts over the year per firm.

Cyber Incidents Doubled in 2017
New research has found that out of the 160,000 reported cyber-attacks in 2017, 93 percent of them could have been avoided if basic security measures were in place.
Unsurprisingly, 2017 was hands down the worst year yet for data breaches and cyber incidents, including ransomware attacks, IoT incidents, data theft, and business email compromise.

Major Meltdown & Spectre CPU Security Flaws Discovered
Details emerged early this month on two major processor security flaws, leaving firms scrambling to issue fixes and secure machines for customers.
‘Meltdown’ and ‘Spectre’ are described as “side channel” attacks that allow attackers to steal passwords, customer data, and more stored in the memory of programs running on a victim’s machine. These security flaws work across PC’s, mobile devices, and alarmingly, the cloud.
