The popular restaurant chain, Chipotle, has spotted unauthorized activity on the network that supports its payment processing for its customers' purchases.
In a bold move, Chipotle announced the news during an investor presentation to Wall Street analysts, admitting that the company’s payment processing system was hacked.
According to Jack Hartung, CFO of Chipotle, the organization has implemented additional security defenses to prevent this from happening again and is working with law enforcement and a cyber security firm further investigate the matter.
While the number of impacted individuals is still unclear, it’s estimated that the incident occurred between March 24 and April 18, 2017.
