The US have a well-established security framework for protecting the US nation’s bulk electric supply – NERC CIP.
And now the UK’s CERT-UK (UK National Computer Emergency Response Team) have now published their own guidance for securing Industrial Control Systems.
Cyber-attacks on industrial controls systems (which all use computer-control systems known as SCADA systems) are becoming more prevalent, for example, we wrote about this attack on a German Steel Mill early in 2015.
With the stakes so high – any attack has the potential to cripple national infrastructure – action must be taken to properly protect and defend all control systems.
